The construction of Main Street Park is underway after the ground breaking that was held in June. The design for the new Farmer's Market along Allen Street is complete and engineering is underway with a ground breaking scheduled July 2018.
Upcoming projects anticipated in the coming months include, a sidewalk from Shoal Creek Road along Perimeter Road to the entrance to Rain Hill subdivision, sidewalk from Allen Street to City Hall, various road and parking lot paving, and sidewalk from Allen Street at Perimeter Road past Robinson Elementary to Hwy 9 North. We are researching the development of city streets to allow additional parking and hopefully the site of a public restroom for serving downtown. Additionally, we have many 'behind the scene' projects that ensure a successful future for Dawsonville, such as, development of a new well, upgrade of an existing well, and expansion of our sewage capacity.
Fire hydrant testing continues the month of July to Maintain our ISO rating which keeps your homeowner insurance rates down. Please be patient with this process as it may cause some cloudy water. Staff will be working diligently to clear the lines as they go. If you experience any discolored water, you may need to Flush your lines. Welcome Robbie Irvin to our team as our new Planning & Zoning Director. He will begin work on July 25th. He brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience to the table and we are excited to have him join our team.
